Chapter 3’s theme for 2023 is EDUCATION and we were able to continue the tradition of “Free” Education classes for members.
On March 28-30, Paul Cnossen of BuhlerPrince, Inc. taught the “Die Cast Machine Hydraulics” class to 17 Chapter 3 members.
This Class is the study of basic hydraulics, components, hydraulic circuits and the required maintenance of hydraulic fluid. This course provided useful information, skills and techniques to individuals charged with the responsibility for troubleshooting hydraulic issues in a die cast machine and can be translated to other pieces of equipment. Machine circuits were studied one section at a time and the operation of each valve and its purpose in the circuit is explained. Extra attention was given to valves that are designed exclusively for use on die cast machines. Troubleshooting procedures and methods were reviewed throughout the session. Each attendee received educational material relating to basic hydraulics plus a loose-leaf binder containing special valve drawings, circuits and reference material.
The class reported that the instruction was on the money and that they can immediately start using the training that was presented. Paul reported that this group of students posed a lot of questions and inquired about a Process Control Class. Keeping with the Chapter 3 tradition of helping to educate its members we will be scheduling a process control class later this year.
Chapter 3 would like to thank BuhlerPrince, Inc. in Holland for offering their world class training facility, it is with the help of companies like BuhlerPrince, Inc. and Cascade Die Cast (where classes have also been held) that make it possible for the chapter to offer these classes. Funding for these classes is generated by our annual golf outing and the annual chapter directory.
